IMAGINATION HUB
Situated in the Longstanding heritage of Leicester, UK; amid old cottages of King streets stands a Hub where Imagination has no bound. The imagination hub is an imagination come to life. Where the white exterior fades, and one can only see the bright, welcoming colors inside. The Bubble roof of the building looks as if it will float away like an idea bubble coming out of the head of a comic book character. The facades have huge arch windows allowing one to take a glimpse at the exhibitions and activities inside. The lines between inside and outside are blurred.
The design was developed using passive design principles to reduce the impact of the development on the environment . The design will include fundamental passive design principles such as : 9-meter deep spaces and 4 meter floor-to-floor ceiling heights maximize natural daylight use. Voids in design to facilitate ‘stack effect natural ventilation. Minimize solar gain and overheating through design such as large windows and glazing layout.

The bubble concept is physically represented in the roof. A few concept models are made to test this idea, along with a sketch plan to make the roof more functional. The roof has thirty-three bubbles in total , small and big. The material chosen for this feature is ETFE, Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene is a transparent polymer extruded into a thin film that forms either a single-layer membrane or multi-layer cushions supported in an aluminum perimeter extrusion.

The imagination hub brings people with different hobbies and interests together, resulting in the cross-pollination of ideas. Inside the Imagination hub is a medley of colors immediately lifting one’s mood. Each room has a color assigned to it to create a particular atmosphere that is best for the space, leading to optimum productivity.
